Opening 1

Ali dribbled pass his opponents gracefully. He runs down the right flank, using his football skills to evade every attempt at tackling him. After beating the last defender with a series of step-overs, Ali came face to face with the goal keeper, Ali starred viciously at the goalkeeper and kicked the ball as hard as he could, the ball flew….

 

Opening 2

John swiftly rushed to the closet and locked the door. He crawled into a corner of the room and stood there shaking in fear. He looks out the small crack at the door. A silhouette of a man walking closer to the door was what he saw. Fear started to race through his veins. Suddenly his hand phone rang….

 

Opening 3

Sally saw a parcel under the seat of the train. She started to get suspicious. Could it be a bomb? Feeling very unsecured, Sally gets of the train. She squeezed into the congested stairway down. Suddenly a huge explosion was heard…

 

Opening 4

I held the gun upright, pointing it directly at the robber. He froze, stood rooted to the ground. He dropped my wallet and ran off swiftly towards the other direction, I felt relieve and lowered my arms. As the robber ran towards the road, a shot was fired, but it wasn’t me; the robber fell….

 

Opening 5

“If you turn around, I will shoot you” whispered a voice from my back. I was held at gunpoint. My hands shook. “Step away from the car” instructed the voice, I followed. I step aside leaving my key on the keyhole. As I felt the presence getting closer…

 

Opening 6

The rain poured down heavily as I raced down the hill on my bicycle. I was running out of time. As I made a sharp turn into a narrow alley, I lost control of my steer, I panicked     

 

Opening 7

I ran home as fast as I could after receiving a distressed call from my brother. As I arrived, I saw my front door ajar. My heart sank a little when I saw a trail of blood leading into the main hall. I followed it. The trail continued into my room. I opened the door. What I saw next haunted me until this day…..

I swiftly ran through the names on the list. I saw the name I needed and quickly took down his particulars. As I was about to leave the office I broke into, the lights went off, and a voice whispered to me from the back…

I was waiting anxiously for my results. I sat there nervously for my teacher to retrieve my result slip from her table. She returned shortly later with a pinch of disappointment on her face after taking a quick glance on the slip of paper she was holding. I took the paper….

It was my first time doing the bungee. I looked down nervously at the terrain below. I slowly walked in the platform. Not letting the past noises getting the better of me, I mustered all my courage….

  1. Your openers are quite interesting but all in all, a little long. Number 3 is my favourite because of the variety of possibility is has for a story and Number 12 is my least favourite because it holds no other possibility for a story other than one about a person’s first time bungee experience.
