Charlie Chaplin, the best animator ever. When I say Animator, i don’t refer to the people braking their backs behind the computer but as a way of how he moves himself to entertain the masses. The world is a stage and all the men and women are merely players. Chaplin was one of the best players. I think every good animator of today should be looking to his work to study expressionism, the fundamental of animation. Chaplin i think, is the fuel that drove animators from disney and universal etc to make their works better. His clever use of body language is what many animators look for to tell their story. Many a times even today, having dialogue in a animation might cost a bit and those who rather applaud sound driven animation would look to chaplain to animate their characters using expressionism instead. He i think is the first cartoon because his acting was itself an animation oh it’s own class.
